OVERVIEW
The Olds & District Hospice Society is celebrating our 10th year Anniversary and we would like to invite our friends, partners, stakeholders, community members, and local businesses to join us for an exquisite evening of appreciation, thanks, and celebration of our past, present and future.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Eric Wasylenko
Eric Wasylenko is a palliative care physician and nationally award-recognized clinical ethicist. After a 10 year career as a rural family doctor, he specialized in palliative care and practiced for the next 23 years exclusively in palliative medicine – primarily in hospices and in peoples’ homes. He led the visioning and development of the Foothills Country Hospice, one of Canada’s first rural, non-profit, free-standing hospices, and has helped a number of other hospice programs in their development journey. Eric currently provides clinical and organizational ethics advice to a number of provincial and national health care and government agencies. He has faculty appointments at the University of Calgary and University of Alberta and teaches widely on ethics and end of life topics provincially, nationally and internationally.
